Arielle Poncelet
Dance has been a driving force throughout Arielle’s life. Like many students she started dancing at a young age and rapidly developed a love for all forms of dance. In her home town of Saskatoon she built the foundation of her passion for jazz, hip-hop, musical theatre, modern, lyrical and especially ballet. She progressed through the RAD exams by the age of 17, when she proudly received her Advanced Exam. She also performed many rolls in a number of local productions and apprenticed for a company in Saskatoon.
In 2001 Arielle moved on to more formal academic and artistic education when she was accepted into one of the early Ballet Programs at the University of Calgary. Throughout her degree program she worked closely with the Alberta Ballet School and trained with world renowned contemporary dance professors. Arielle performed a number of works by leading chorographers both in ballet, modern and physical theatre. In 2005 Arielle completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance and began the next chapter in her dance career.
Having made the decision to pursue her passion through teaching it to others she immersed herself in the profession and gained a wide variety of teaching experience. Today she has experience teaching in locations including Calgary, Winnipeg, Kelowna and Prince George. She has taught everything from classical ballet to creative movement and has recently focused on modern ballet choreography. Recently, she has received accolades for her choreography, teaching and student development in competitive and artistic circles.
Arielle’s goal remains to broaden her knowledge, develop her art and pass on her passion for dance to the next generation of dance sensations.
